Banana Sushi

I don’t know about you but I LOVE sushi! Avocado rolls, salmon rolls, dragon rolls,  spicy tuna rolls… I love ’em all! Gosh I’m really craving sushi now after writing all my favourite ones down.

This sushi is fish-free of course since it is a breakfast dessert sushi! It’s so simple to make, yet so fun and chocolatey. Choose your favourite nut butter and coatings and feel free to try new combinations.


I’m using chocolate peanut butter and chocolate chia seeds. Yes, chocolate chia seeds! They’re so good that I eat them straight out of the bag. Check out the chocolate Salbachia seed here – they are a game changer!

This breakfast banana sushi is also a great way to get picky eaters to eat more fruit and makes a great after-school snack. I’ll be making this for my little brother. His banana sushi combo of choice would definitely be peanut butter and mini chocolate chips!

I love this breakfast sushi because it gives me a reason to eat with chopsticks. I’m no expert but they’re so fun to use. Practice makes perfect right? I’m serving my breakfast sushi with coconut chips (imitating pickled ginger) and a dollop of pecan butter (imitating wasabi)


Breakfast Sushi (serves 1)


  • 1 banana
  • nut butter of choice (I’m using chocolate peanut butter)
  • chocolate chia seeds


  1. Peel banana.
  2. Coat banana with nut butter of choice.
  3. Roll coated banana in chocolate chia seeds.
  4. Slice banana and enjoy!
