Chocolate Hummus

If you didn’t already know, hummus is one of my favorite food, EVER! In sandwiches, with veggies, as a tartine, with crackers, by the spoonful – I can really eat it anyway!

A fresh batch of hummus honestly doesn’t last long in my house and that’s why I’m always making it. I am addicted to my sweet potato hummus variety, but today I decided to take a trip to the sweet side! I’ve seen a couple of American brands that sell chocolate (and other sweet) hummus varieties and you know what, THEY’RE NOT AVAILABLE IN CANADA! What’s a girl to do when she can’t get her hands on those? Make her own!

My chocolate hummus is SO easy to make, you will ask yourself what’s the point of even buying it at the store. It’s vegan, dairy-free, packed with protein from the chickpeas and packed with healthy fats from the coconut oil. All in all, this chocolate hummus has now become my go-to!

You can spread this chocolate hummus on your toast of course but it also makes such a cool fruit fondue option! I don’t know if the fruit or the chocolate hummus will disappear first haha!

Get you food processor and let’s get to work!

Easy & Healthy Chocolate Hummus

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups canned chickpeas, rinsed
  • 3 tbsp cacao powder
  • 1/4 cup + 2 tbsp maple syrup (feel free to add an extra 2 tbsp if you want it sweeter)
  • 2 tbsp avocado oil
  • 1 tbsp almond butter
  • 2 tbsp almond milk

Directions:

  1. Place rinsed chickpeas in the food processor and pulse until they have broken down.
  2. Add the rest of the ingredients and blend until smooth. Enjoy!
